Attention engineers! If you’re hunting for a job, you might not need to polish your résumé up right away. The optimistically titled MyPerfectGig, a new career search website, allows you to utilize a “skill cloud” interface to find a variety of available positions across multiple disciplines. Each job category contains an in-depth knowledge of the skills required for that field, and allows users to narrow their focus based on their own interests and strengths. The site’s algorithm automatically updates skill associations based on user input, which helps the system’s knowledge base expand for future visitors. “Our intelligent, guided-search interface reboots the recruiting world, enabling job seekers to share a ‘common language’ with employers,” says Blair Heavey, CEO and president of MyPerfectGig. MyPerfectGig allows visitors to search anonymously, without registering, filling out a questionnaire, or submitting a résumé. However, once a candidate finds a position that matches his needs, he can then sign on as a member allowing potential employers to introduce themselves and request a résumé. So on second thought, perhaps giving your résumé a quick glance-over wouldn’t be a bad idea after all.
